Splink 1:

Kids using the D6 curriculum learned that Jesus cleansed the temple of people who were robbing others and misusing it. God’s house was to be a place of prayer and worship, but instead, dishonest people had ruined it. Jesus showed His authority by making the people leave (putting it mildly).

Ask:

If you were the principal (in charge) of the school and could change any of the rules, what 3 things would you do?

How might these change things for the better at your school?

Being in authority brings responsibility to do what is right. Jesus used His authority to clean God’s house of wrong doing.

Splink 2:

Jesus is in charge and has made good rules. Where do we find these rules? (The Bible)

What do you think we should do when we learn about God’s rules? (Obey them)

Write each of the following Bible references (that list some rules to obey) on a slip of paper and put them in a bag or basket:

  • Ephesians 4:25 (speak truth)
  • Ephesians 4:32 (be kind or forgive)
  • Ephesians 6:1 (obey parents)
  • Matthew 22:39 (love neighbor)

Invite a family member to pick a slip of paper and then act out the rule to obey while others will try to guess it.

Jesus knows what is best for us and His rules help us get along with others better.

November 16-23 is the collection week for Operation Christmas Child. To learn about a great way to share with others, go to: http://video.samaritanspurse.org/shoeboxes-with-joy/ to watch an Operation Christmas Child video (a division of the relief organization, Samaritan’s Purse).

Pack your shoeboxes and deliver them to a drop-off location this week. (See their website for drop-off locations. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/drop-off-locations/)
