Our guest today is John Weaver, and he starts our conversation by telling us about himself and his service with Youth With a Mission. John often uses the phrase “reset to reproduce” when talking about disciple-making, so he explains what he means by this phrase. He talks about John 15 and how God prunes us in order to make us more fruitful, and John says why he believes pruning has such a negative connotation. He describes the discipleship differences he’s experienced in his ministry service in Afghanistan and other cultures around him, and John assesses how well the western church has adopted this physiology of resetting and adjusting their ways of discipleship. John tells us of some trends he’s seeing in churches that need to be reconsidered and reset in order to reproduce as s church, and he speaks to the church leaders who want to begin the first steps in humbly evaluating their ministry efforts.
