Splinks for July 16th - July 22nd
Items needed: small treasure for each child (small toy, candy, book, or anything you know they would like)
String or yarn (about 50 feet or so for each child)
Tie a long piece of string or yarn to each child’s small treasure. Hide the “treasure” when kids are not looking. Crisscross the yarn from room to room or if outside, around trees and bushes.
Announce to the kids that there is a small treasure hidden for each one. Give each one the end of a string and tell him to follow the string until he finds the treasure. After the kids have found the treasures, talk about it:
What was the best part of the treasure hunt?
What would have happened if you hadn’t looked for the treasure? (You wouldn’t have the treasure, you would have missed out on the fun, etc.)
God has many good promises for us in the Bible, but we must look for them and apply them to our lives.
Students in the upper elementary classes looked up several promises. God has given us many promises, but usually we need to do something too. Look up each of the following promises and ask kids to help you find God’s promise and find out what WE need to do. We can be sure that God will keep His promises.
· James 1:5 (ask for wisdom)
· Jeremiah 33:3 (call out to God)
· Matthew 11:28 (come to Him)
· John 3:16 (believe in Jesus)
· Isaiah 26:3 (keep our mind focused on Him)
