Splink 1:

Treasure Inside!

Play guess the container! Write the name of a container on a slip of paper. (Ideas: cup; trash can; treasure chest; cooking pan; toy box; drinking goblet; pencil box; dog food bowl; soap dish; etc.) Put them in a bag or box. Take turns picking one and the others will ask questions that can be answered with yes or no to discover the container’s identity. (Is it larger than a loaf of bread? Would it be found inside our house? Would we put food inside it? Etc.)

When finished, read 2 Corinthians 4:7.

What does this verse tell us that we have inside us—in our jar / body of clay? (A treasure)

What is a treasure? (Something very valuable

If we are Christians, we actually have God (through His Spirit) living in us. THAT is a TREASURE! He will be with us; He will never leave us; He will love us; He will comfort us; He will help us! We have His power inside to help us do what is right.

Splink 2:

Lean on Me

Items Needed: An object (ball; pencil; stuffed animal; etc.) per team

Run a relay with a partner. Ask kids to find a partner. Pick a starting point and finishing point. Partners must run from the starting point to the finishing point with the object between them. To change it up, announce a different way for them to carry the object:

  • elbow to elbow
  • finger to finger
  • back to back
  • cheek to cheek
  • head to head

If they drop the item, they must pick it up and keep going. Have fun!

It’s fun to do things with a partner. We all need help to know the right things to do and so God has given us the Holy Spirit to live inside us. He will guide, comfort, correct, and show us how to please God.

Splink: 3

The Wind Blows

Make a wind chime. Tie seashells to a string and attach to a stick. Use silverware, bottle caps, old jewelry, or anything that will make a sound when the wind blows. (For some easy ideas, go to: http://acultivatednest.com/2013/06/8-great-diy-wind-chime-ideas/)

Talk about it:
Can you see the wind? (No)

Can you see the effects of the wind as it moves through the chime? (Yes)

Can you see the Holy Spirit? (No)

Can you see the effects of the Holy Spirit as He lives in us? How? (He produces good “fruit”/characteristics inside of us)

Read Galatians 5:22-23 to find some of the things others should see because the Holy Spirit lives in us.
