True or False?

Read the following statements and ask the children to say if they believe if they are true or false.

The biggest bird in the world is the ostrich (up to 9 ft. tall).
Honeybees have hair on their eyes.
A cheetah can reach a top speed approaching 70 mph.
The average cow produces 40 glasses of milk each day.
Elephants are the only animals that can’t jump.

All five statements are true. Were these statements true even if we didn’t know or believe them? Yes, these statements are absolutely true. The Bible is also absolutely true whether people believe it or not. God’s Word is true, and it lasts forever!

Tested and True

Items Needed:

  • Sturdy chair
  • Bible

Ask one of the children to sit in the chair. When he or she stands up, ask if anyone else is willing to sit in the chair. Continue “trying out” the chair until everyone has had a turn.

Ask:

Why were you willing to sit in the chair? (I thought it would hold me; She sat in it first and it held her; etc.) Will this chair always be this strong? Will it last forever? (No, it will get weaker the more it is used, the older it gets.)

Read 1 Peter 1:25.

What does this verse tell about God’s words? (They last forever.)

Repeat after me: God’s Word lasts forever!

People have believed God’s Word for thousands of years and it is still true today. The bestselling book of all time is the Bible!

What Are You Seeking?

Items Needed:

  • Index card (with “Jesus” written on it)
  • Marker

Gather everyone for a game of Hide and Seek. Grab the index card with the word “Jesus” written on it. Choose a “hider” and a “seeker.” The “seeker” goes out of the room while the “hider” hides the index card somewhere in the room. Call the “seeker” back in.

Play music while the “seeker” looks for the card—turn it down when the “seeker” is far away and turn it up when they are closer to the card. When Jesus is found, cheer for the “seeker” and choose two more to be the “hider” and “seeker.” Continue until all have had a chance to be both “hider” and “seeker.”

Seeking Jesus is a wise thing to do! We can read all about Him in the Bible. The Bible lasts forever! Pray together, asking God to help each of you seek Him and thanking Him for His Word that lasts forever.
