The Best!

Items Needed:

  • Different flavors of ice cream (or other good things to compare)
  • Bowls
  • Spoons

Dip small amounts of each ice cream flavor into the bowls. Instruct your children to taste each one and share their opinion of the best flavor with the family.

We all have our opinion about which flavor of ice cream is the best. We don’t have to agree on which one is the best, but there is one thing we must all agree on… Jesus!

Jesus is the greatest of all time, like no other person who ever lived. He is the most important prophet. He is God, our Savior, and Satan’s Destroyer. Jesus talks to the Father for us! He is better than anything!

Summer Homework?

Give your children an assignment, instructing them to ask three people to describe Jesus in one word. (Be sure to let them know they need to remember the answers.) You can complete this assignment along with your children.

When everyone has completed the assignment, discuss the different answers people gave.

Many people have different ideas about Jesus. Colossians 1 tells us Jesus existed before time, before anything else. He is the image of God; a picture of what God is like. Jesus is the Creator of the World, Head of the Church, and Winner over sin and death.

There has never been anyone like Jesus! He is unique and supreme over all!

Let’s Go Stargazing!

Items Needed:

  • Flashlight
  • Bible

On a nice, summer night, let the children stay up a little later, and go outside to look at the night sky.

Share some of these facts with your children:
On a clear, moonless night, a thousand or more stars are visible.
We can see five of our solar system’s planets, a few star clusters, a spiral galaxy, and the occasional comet, too.
Telescopes have allowed many new discoveries of stars. With his homemade telescope, Galileo was able to see ten times as many stars.
The Milky Way galaxy has 200,000 million stars that we know of. If you counted three stars per second for 100 years, you would only count about 5% of the stars in our galaxy!

Enjoy this time as a family, meditating on the truth that Jesus is supreme, better than anything and everything.

Turn on the flashlight and read Genesis 1:16 and Colossians 1:15–17 together. Remind your children that Jesus is wise and powerful, and He deserves our very best- our respect and worship.

Say a prayer of praise to God for His great wisdom and power. For more star facts, visit www.answersingenesis.org.
