Five Truths of God

Items Needed: Bible, paper, writing utensil

God is powerful (Jeremiah 32:17).
God can be trusted (Proverbs 3:5–6).
God will always love me (John 3:16).
God will never leave me (Hebrews 13:5b).
God will do what is best for me (Romans 8:28).

Write out these truths and place them on the fridge. There are five truths—one for each finger. Say each truth as you lift each finger.

When hard times come, we might doubt God is with us or if He even loves us. Elijah felt afraid and unsure when he faced difficult times and scary, unknown situations, but God is trustworthy. He took care of Elijah, and He takes care of us too! Knowing these important truths can help us trust God no matter what happens.

Great Truths Give Courage

Items Needed: Bible, construction paper, writing utensil, yarn or twine, tape, other craft supplies

Make a banner of five great truths about God.

God is powerful (Jeremiah 32:17).
God can be trusted (Proverbs 3:5–6).
God will always love me (John 3:16).
God will never leave me (Hebrews 13:5b).
God will do what is best for me (Romans 8:28).

Write each truth on a piece of construction paper and let the children decorate them. Tape them to a piece of yarn or twine and hang them in a prominent place. There are five truths, so you can focus on one each weekday. Think of situations where you might need to remember each truth about God.

When hard times come, we often doubt God’s love and if He is with us. Elijah felt afraid and unsure when he faced unknown, scary situations, but God is trustworthy. He helped Elijah have courage and calmed his fears. God’s Word can help give us courage and calm our fears too!

Bible Words to Calm Our Fears

Items Needed: Bible, paper, writing utensil

Review 1 Peter 5:7.

One of the most important things about our faith in God is believing He is trustworthy. He can help us with every fear and worry. He will never leave us, and He will provide what we need in every situation.

Play “Echo” to review 1 Peter 5:7. Divide into two groups, with each group sitting together. Group 1 should say the first phrase of the verse and Group 2 will echo; Group 1 will say the next phrase and Group 2 will echo; etc. Reverse roles with Group 2 leading. You might want to write out the verse so everyone can see it as they play the game.
