Join the Parade!
What would it have been like to see Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey with people shouting praises to Him?
Plan your own parade to celebrate the coming of Jesus into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.
Here are some parade planning tips:
- Throw some stuffed animals in a wagon and march in the backyard.
- Decorate the bikes and ride in the neighborhood or park.
- Make some simple instruments and play them in praise while marching through the house! (There are tons of ideas: coffee cans could become drums; rice in a water bottle could become maracas; a paper towel roll can become a horn; two matching pot lids can become cymbals; etc. Older children can look up ideas on the internet.)
- Crank up some lively praise music to play as you march!
Hosanna!
Items needed: Paper, marker, colored pencils, etc.
While you spend time making Hosanna bookmarks as a family, discuss the details of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Ask your children what they know about this important day we call Palm Sunday.
Remind your children:
Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.
The people put their clothes on the ground for Jesus’ donkey to walk on.
The people yelled, “Hosanna!”
The people waved palm branches in honor of Jesus.
Pray together thanking God for sending His Son to us. Use your bookmark in your Bible or favorite bedtime storybook to remind you Jesus is our king.
For My Sins
